Bug Note: [Update: this should be fixed in version 1.0.1] We have discovered, thanks to Dan Collins, a bug in our game with the thwomp spike speed. However, thanks to a kind soul in the Metroidvania Month Jam Discord server, we have discovered there is a simple fix: If you encounter ultra speed thwomp spikes, you simply need to quit the game (you should be able to Resume at your last checkpoint!), turn Vsync in your GPU settings to ON, and run the game again. This seems to clear the problem up.

[Update: version 1.0.1 has the fix] We will be issuing a patch build after the Metroidvania Month 22 jam is done; it appears we cannot patch during voting time. Thanks again to everyone and hope you enjoy our game!

Note: The web build may appear to freeze while loading between levels, and initially caching a level while playing; if it takes too long to load, please try one of the executable builds.

Note: You can slow/speed up the intro text using the up/down keys.

Controls

Controllers preferred, but keyboards accepted!

Move left/right: A/D or Left Stick

Jump: Space or A button

Additional controls will be told while playing.

If you enjoy the game, check the Settings to try a Hardcore run! No checkpoint flags (which means no health restore!), but it does still save on each level load.

Hint: Once you win the game on either difficulty, check the Main Menu before quitting for a dev surprise!

Incredible work guys! Really enjoyed it!

Thanks for the kind words and glad you liked it :)

I played this game even though I am NOT good at platformers but I really enjoyed it! I didn't know till later that the game was meant to not hold your hand on where to go and I got lost a few times. I think the only feedback I really have is to maybe have the "lore" at the beginning pause for slower readers. The music was great! I kept jamming at every part.
Thank you for making this game!

Thanks for giving it a play @Kimmeekarma and for recording it. Seeing how people are playing it really helps discover some of the pain points. And for the story scrolling, we should have had it lock in the center but there are some hidden controls (we'll get it displayed on the screen) of using the up/down arrows to control the scroll speed. The music nclark3rd and raptor made really is catchy :) Again, appreciate your feedback!
